Ghana U20 women’s head coach Charles Sampson has expressed confidence that his players will be mentally prepared for their crucial reverse fixture against South Africa following a tense first-leg draw in Accra.
The Black Princesses twice saw their lead slip away in Sunday’s clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Agnes Yeboah opening the scoring and Linda Owusu Ansah adding a second-half goal.
Despite their efforts, the match ended 2-2, leaving Ghana with a challenging task in the return leg.
Sampson emphasised the importance of preparing for both legs of the qualifier, noting that the team must remain focused ahead of the away fixture.
"We have a crop of players that are mentally strong and psychologically, we will also do those parts and get them tuned and ready for the next to make sure we get what we are looking for," Sampson said.
"We know that there are two games; a home and away, that is why we are here. We are going to prepare and make sure we go to South Africa at their home and go forward."
The Black Princesses now face the task of securing a win on South African soil to progress to the final round of the U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Success in the return leg would see Ghana take on either Zambia or Uganda in the decisive stage, with a World Cup berth at stake.
