The head coach of Nigeria’s male senior national team, Eric Chelle, has disclosed that his dream is to become the first African to coach Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Ivory Coast-born tactician who played for Mali during his playing days shared this ambition in an interview with RMC Sport.
"My biggest dream is to become Real Madrid's first-ever African coach,” Eric Chelle said.
Chelle, 48, remains head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite failing to lead the team to clinch the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy.
At the tournament hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the coach guided the team to a third-place finish.
Although his future with the Nigerian national team is uncertain, checks have revealed that he has the backing of the majority of the leadership of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
For Chelle to realise his dream of coaching Real Madrid, he will need to prove himself by winning major trophies and becoming one of the best in the world.
