The management of Asante Kotoko has extended the club’s appreciation to Abdul Karim Zito after accepting his resignation from his role as head coach.
Zito has come under pressure in recent weeks over a run of poor results in the Ghana Premier League.
However, the pressure became telling on Sunday, February 8, after Asante Kotoko lost to Aduana FC in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Karim Zito, indicated that he wishes to continue as Kotoko head coach but was ready to accept any decision from the management.
Amid speculation about a club decision to sack the former Dreams FC boss, he has submitted a resignation letter to the Kotoko management.
After accepting the coach’s resignation, the management of Kotoko, in a statement, has wished the coach the best of luck in his next chapter and thanked him for his service.
“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.
“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for the future,” Kotoko said in a notice on X.
Meanwhile, the Kotoko have indicated that the new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.
