Asante Kotoko midfielder Hubert Gyau has sent a clear message to the club's doubters: the Porcupine Warriors have not surrendered their pursuit of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League crown.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's seismic Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, Gyau dismissed any narrative suggesting Kotoko's title ambitions have faded, despite trailing league leaders Medeama SC by eight points with 13 matches remaining.
"Our focus on the league title hasn't changed," Gyau stated firmly on Oyerpa FM. "There are still many matches to play. If we beat Hearts of Oak on Sunday, we believe we'll still have a strong chance to win the league."
The midfielder, whose consistent performances have made him one of Kotoko's most reliable assets this season, also rallied the club's fanbase ahead of the Baba Yara Stadium showdown.
Sunday's fixture against arch-rivals Hearts of Oakâwho sit just one point above Kotoko in fourth placeârepresents more than bragging rights. It is an opportunity to reignite a stuttering campaign, close the gap on the leaders, and send a statement that Kotoko remains a force to be reckoned with.
Gyau's words reflect a dressing room still united in purpose, refusing to allow a difficult season to define their destiny.
With 13 games left to play, the title race is far from over. And if Kotoko's players share their midfielder's conviction, Sunday could mark the beginning of a late-season surge that rewrites the narrative entirely.
