A delegation from the Retired Footballers Association of Ghana paid a courtesy call to Sports Minister Kofi Adams on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, marking a significant engagement between former players and government officials.
Led by association president James Kuuku Dadzie, the delegation included prominent retired footballers such as Mohammed Polo, Abdul Razak, Willie Klutse, George Alhassan, and Rev. Osei Kofi.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s conference room, was also attended by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, who welcomed the guests and expressed optimism about building stronger links between the government and retired players.
During discussions, Dadzie emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Ministry to ensure retired footballers’ contributions are recognized and supported.
He referenced Ghana’s celebrated victories in the African Cup of Nations in 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982, highlighting the legacy of the Black Stars and the value of preserving connections with past generations.
Minister Adams received the delegation warmly, acknowledging their role in shaping Ghana’s football history. He detailed current government initiatives aimed at supporting retired athletes, including programs for health care, post-retirement opportunities, and strategic collaborations with the Ministry.
Adams encouraged the association to maintain close communication to help develop sustainable initiatives benefiting retired players and reinforcing Ghana’s broader sports framework.
