Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah has revealed that he plans to make a definitive choice regarding his senior international career in 2027.
According to the talented forward, he is weighing options between the Germany national team and the Ghana national team.
The 21-year-old has made six appearances for the Germany U21s but is still eligible to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Speaking on interest from the Ghana FA, Ansah, in an interview, has stressed that he has no plans of playing for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He wants to focus on his time with the German U21s this year before deciding on the country he will represent at the senior level next year.
"I've decided to soak up everything I'm currently experiencing at Union and continue playing for the German U21 team. After the U21 European Championship, I'll look into it next year and make a decision. As things stand, I won't be going to the World Cup with Ghana,” he said as quoted by tribuna.com.
The striker’s decision will be closely monitored by both football federations. Germany will hope to retain a rising talent in their ranks, while Ghana will continue to keep the door open for the promising forward, who is eligible to represent the West African nation through his parents.
