Assistant coach of the Black Starlets, Nana Kweku Agyemang, has indicated that the team is in high spirits despite losing 2-1 to Golden Kick at the end of Wednesday’s friendly match.
As part of preparations for the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana U-17 team engaged the lower-division outfit in a warm-up game at the Accra Sports Stadium today.
Despite a strong showing, the Starlets suffered a 2-1 defeat to Golden Kick at the end of the exercise.
Speaking to Citi Sports after the match, Nana Kwaku Agyemang indicated that there is no cause for worry at all, adding that the Black Starlets are not expected to win all their matches.
“For us, I don’t think we are going to be in a bad mood because we lost one game. It’s part of the exercise. We don’t expect them to win every game, we don’t expect them to keep a clean sheet in every game,” the assistant coach said.
Nana Kweku Agyemang added, “The idea is for them to improve in every phase. They are very young, so you cannot push them too hard. We will go back, and we will look at the principles again.”
The 2026 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for April in Morocco.
