HJK Helsinki have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng on a deal running through the 2026 season, with an option for 2027.
The 28-year-old, who most recently played in the Turkish top flight with Konyaspor, is expected to arrive in Finland soon once the final immigration formalities are completed.
Boateng’s contract was actually finalised back in January, but fans will only get to see him in person when he lands in Helsinki in the coming days. Until then, the club has promised a more in-depth introduction once he joins up with the squad.
Boateng shared his excitement about the move, saying he is eager to get started, meet everyone at the club and help make it a memorable season for HJK.
"I am really excited to join HJK. I can't wait to get started and meet everyone. Let's make this a great season!" he said.
The midfielder moved to Europe in 2018 after winning the Super Cup with Aduana Stars, joining Hapoel Tel Aviv before securing a four-year deal at Swedish side Elfsborg, where he became a key player.
He then switched to Konyaspor in January 2024, with his contract there expiring last autumn, allowing him to sign for HJK as a free agent.
