Asante Kotoko continue to falter at home, with head coach Prince Yaw Owusu pointing to mounting pressure as a key factor behind their inconsistent performances at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking after a 0-0 draw with Vision FC in Kumasi, Owusu highlighted that his players often feel more tense in front of their home fans, affecting their decision-making and finishing.
Asante Kotoko sit tenth on the Ghana Premier League table based on home form.
“I think the boys, they feel it - pressure playing in front of the home crowd at Baba Yara.
“When we’re playing here, they feel it, and I could see the way they perform. When we go out, they are free, then they try to play.”
“At Wenchi, against Young Apostles, it was amazing how they got the early two goals, and today we had those chances early too, [but] they couldn’t bury it.”
Owusu also revealed that Kotoko have brought in a psychologist to help players manage the mental demands of high-pressure matches, reflecting the club’s recognition of the psychological component in their home struggles.
The draw keeps Kotoko in third place on 39 points, seven behind league leaders Medeama SC, who also dropped points in Swedru.
