Ghanaian forward Richardson Kwaku Denzell was the hero for FK Jedinstvo Ub, scoring a dramatic late equaliser that sent his side into penalties against FK Zemun in the Mozzart Kup Srbije quarterfinals.
Jedinstvo eventually triumphed 6â5 on penalties after a 2â2 draw, with Denzell at the heart of the comeback.
Zemun struck first after just eight minutes through Vasilije BakiÄ, and despite the visitors going down to ten men early in the second half, Jedinstvo struggled to break them down. The hosts finally levelled on 77 minutes via DuÅ¡an LiÅ¡anin, only for Dimitrije Tabakovic to restore Zemun’s lead in the 83rd minute. Deep into stoppage time, Denzell kept Jedinstvo alive, holding his nerve to score a 90+3 minute penalty and force extra time.
The tie went to a tense shootout where both sides traded successful kicks, with Denzell missing his kick in the sequence. In the end, UroÅ¡ SavkoviÄ netted the decisive penalty after Dejan ParaÄina’s miss for Zemun sealed Jedinstvo’s place in the semifinals.
Jedinstvo Ub now turn their attention back to league action in their next game, looking to carry this cup momentum into domestic competition.
