Ghanaian forward Eric Appiah was on target but could not prevent MEAP Nisou from slipping to a 4â2 home defeat against Nea Salamis in the Cypriot 2. Division Promotion Group.
After falling behind on 33 minutes to Daniel Pérez’s opener, MEAP rallied after the break, with Appiah levelling the contest in the 57th minute, finishing off a rare flowing move to make it 1â1. Three minutes later Curtis Junior Makosso Moungadji struck to complete the turnaround and briefly put the hosts 2â1 ahead.
Nea Salamis, however, produced a ruthless late surge. Konstantinos Anthimou equalised in the 89th minute before stoppage-time goals from Giorgos Pavlidis and Ãlex Guti, in the 90+2 and 90+4 minutes respectively, sealed a dramatic 4â2 win for the visitors.
Despite the result, Appiah’s goal and all-round display offered encouragement for MEAP Nisou as they look to climb the table.
MEAP Nisou now turn their attention to their next league fixture away to Ayia Napa on Saturday, March 14 at 1:30 PM.
