Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer delivered a standout performance, providing a crucial assist in Darmstadt’s 1â1 home draw with Schalke 04 in the 2. Bundesliga.
The centre-back rose highest deep into first-half stoppage time, nodding the ball into the path of Isac Lidberg, who swept home the equaliser to cancel out Moussa Sylla’s opener a minute earlier.
In a fiercely contested game at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor, Darmstadt dominated possession but had to come from behind after Sylla finished a swift Schalke move on 44 minutes from a Timo Becker cross. Pfeiffer’s quick reaction from a set-piece situation ensured the hosts went into the break level, shifting the momentum after a frantic end to the half.
Schalke carried a greater attacking threat after the interval, creating the better chances, but Pfeiffer marshalled the back line well as Darmstadt held firm to secure a point.
The assist was his first of the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 campaign, adding to his 26 league appearances without a goal so far. Darmstadt now turn their attention to a tricky trip to Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, 4 April.
