âItalian-Ghanaian midfielder Patrick Nuamah was sent off late as Catanzaro’s five-game unbeaten run in Serie B ended with a 3â1 defeat away to Cesena at the Orogel Stadium-Dino Manuzzi.
Nuamah, introduced from the bench on 77 minutes, received his marching orders in the 87th minute, compounding a frustrating afternoon for Alberto Aquilani’s side.
Catanzaro had started brightly but fell behind when Mattia Liberali finished a move created down the right midway through the first half. Alberto Cerri levelled shortly after the break, only for Matteo Piacentini to restore Cesena’s lead with a close-range header on 72 minutes.
In stoppage time, Tommaso Berti struck Cesena’s third after a swift break as the visitors, down to ten men following Nuamah’s dismissal, chased an equaliser.
In the 2025/26 Serie B season, Nuamah has made 23 appearances for Catanzaro, contributing 0 goals and 2 assists so far. Catanzaro now turn their attention to a home clash with Monza on 6 April in their next league fixture.
