Ghanaian teen Ofosu Boakye has been rewarded with a new contract at Dutch Eredivisie outfit Go Ahead Eagles.
The 18-year-old signed a new deal to extend his stay at the club until the middle of 2029.
Boakye, who joined the Dutch club in April last year, impressed the technical handlers of the senior team following his time with the squad.
Although he is a member of the U21 side, Boakye is considered one for the future, hence the decision to tie him down with a new deal.
“It is great to remain part of this team for the coming years,” a delighted Boakye said after signing the contract. “Last year I signed my first contract with the goal of showing my potential. Fortunately, I was able to show that to the club. It is great that this is now being rewarded with a new contract!” he added.
Technical manager of the club, Marc van Hintum believes committing the youngster's future to the club will help develop his blossoming career.
“In Ofosu, we see an interesting striker for the future. It is not without reason that he signed his first contract at the age of 17. This season, he is already training regularly with the squad, and the intention is to make Ofosu a full member of the first team. Last year, Ofosu once again showed what he is capable of at Go Ahead Eagles Under-21. We are convinced that he can eventually demonstrate this at Go Ahead Eagles 1 as well," he said.
Despite training with the first team, Boakye is yet to make his senior debut for the club.
