Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has insisted his side is determined to respond strongly after a disappointing 2â1 home loss to FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The match, which was concluded on Monday, April 6, after heavy rains forced a halt a day earlier, left the Porcupine Warriors fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 43 pointsâeight adrift of leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
Kotoko now travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC on Sunday, April 12. Medeama head into the clash on the back of a poor run that has seen them surrender a nine-point lead and slip to second place.
Speaking to the club’s media, Owusu stressed that the focus within the squad is firmly on delivering a positive reaction this weekend.
“In life, things happen; when it happens, you don’t have to let it keep you down. I have spoken to them⦠the boys are ready to fight back and make sure they bring some life into the supporters,” he said.
“We are just going to counterattack and see if we can bring them down.”
With the title race tightening and both Kotoko and Medeama desperate for points, Sunday’s encounter could prove pivotal in shaping the final stretch of the season. Owusu’s message is clear: the fight is far from over.
