Ghana’s Black Maidens made a strong statement in their U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign with a commanding 2-0 victory over Togo in the first leg of their tie.
The encounter, played on Saturday, April 12 at the Stade de Kégué, saw the Ghanaian side deliver a composed and clinical performance to take control of the tie.
On the matchday, teenager Priscilla Mensah opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing off a well-coordinated attacking move to give the visitors an early advantage.
The forward continued to impress in the second half, doubling Ghana’s lead in the 64th minute with a sharp finish following another swift attacking sequence.
Her brace ensured the Black Maidens secured a crucial away victory, placing them in a strong position ahead of the return leg.

With the first-leg advantage secured, Ghana will now shift focus to the decisive second leg, which is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, April 18.
The Black Maidens will look to finish the job and advance into the next round of the U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
