Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has heaped praise on striker Kelvin Obeng following his standout performance in the club’s emphatic 4â0 victory over Asante Kotoko in their Week 29 Ghana Premier League clash at the TNA Stadium.
Obeng, who recently returned from a knee injury after joining from Aduana Stars, found the net in the dominant win. Tanko highlighted the forward’s overall impact, noting that his presence has filled a void that troubled the team in the first half of the season.
“You need a type of striker who can keep the ball for you, who is good in the air, and you could see that he is a typical striker in the box. That was the type of striker we were missing in the first round. I think adding him has given us a lot of options. " Tanko told the club’s media after the match.
The comprehensive victory, combined with Bibiani Gold Stars’ loss to Aduana Stars, propelled Medeama to the top of the league standings with a two-point lead.
Obeng’s return to form and fitness appears to have arrived at the perfect time for the Mauve and Yellow as they push for the title.
