Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan has expressed optimism about Amedspor’s Turkish Super Lig promotion chances despite sharing the spoils against Ãmraniyespor.
The 23-year-old forward came off the bench as his side played out a 2-2 stalemate in their week 35 fixture, held at the Diyarbakır Stadyumu on Monday night. Introduced in the 60th minute, Afena-Gyan quickly made his presence felt, playing a decisive role in rescuing a point for his team.
With Amedspor trailing on home soil, the former AS Roma youngster stepped up when it mattered most, setting up Mbaye Diagne deep into stoppage time to fire home the crucial equalizer.
The visitors had earlier taken the lead through Batuhan Ãelik in the 22nd minute, but Mehmet YeÅil responded just six minutes later to level matters for the hosts, ensuring both sides went into the break tied at 1-1.
After halftime, Ãmraniyespor regained their advantage through Albanian international Jurgen Bardhi in the 69th minute, putting them on course for all three points.
However, Amedspor had the final say, with Afena-Gyan’s late assist sparking celebrations as the home side snatched a valuable draw in stoppage time.
The Black Stars attacker, who has earned eight caps for Ghana, is proving to be a shrewd acquisition for Amedspor.
After the match, Afena-Gyan took to social media to express optimism about the sides promotion chances despite stalemate against Ãmraniyespor.
“The battle is the Lord’s, we keep our heads up guys, we can do it” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Black Stars attacker, who has earned eight caps for Ghana, is proving to be a shrewd acquisition for Amedspor.
Since joining the club last summer on loan, the enterprising attacker has racked up five goals and provided six assists in 32 appearances, as the side continues to push for Turkish Super Lig promotion.
Amedspor are currently second on the Turkish Lig 1 with 72 points after 35 matches, six points behind leaders, Erzurumspor FK.
