Ampem Darkoa Ladies' midfielder Priscilla Agyemang has described her side's Women's Premier League final victory over Hasaacas Ladies as the biggest happiness the team has ever experienced after they fought back to win 2-1 and claim their fifth league crown.
Speaking after the dramatic final at the Swedru Sports Complex, Agyemang gave thanks to God and praised her teammates for overcoming a tough challenge.
"Actually, it's the big happiness that we have ever had. First of all, we give thanks to God Almighty for how far he has brought us. It's not an easy test that we came in here. We gave all our prayers to God that he should grant us a win, and successfully we have won the Women's Premier League title for this season," she said.
Hasaacas Ladies took the lead in the first half through Abiba Issah, putting the defending champions in control. But Ampem Darkoa responded after the break, with Princilla Okyere equalising in the 58th minute. Then, with just four minutes remaining, Gloria Adomako scored the winner to spark wild celebrations.
Agyemang acknowledged the quality of their opponents while celebrating the victory.
"Actually the game wasn't on a softer side. It was very tough and hard but by God's grace and with the help of Hasaacas Ladies, they all did well. But when God grants you the win, it is just something that you can't take it off. So we just give thanks to God and better luck to Hasaacas Ladies next season."
She stressed the bond between the two clubs, adding that they will support each other in continental competition.
"They are our sisters. They are our family. We are one. If they go [to the CAF Women's Champions League] we support them. If we also go they support us."
Agyemang pledged that Ampem Darkoa will work to elevate the Women's Premier League and promised greater things ahead.
"We will make sure that we will make the Women's Premier League very good and very nice for people to enjoy in it, and we pray to God that whatever thing that has happened here we will do the greater things when we move forward."
The victory secures Ampem Darkoa's place in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women's Champions League, where they will aim to reach the main continental tournament.
