Birmingham City manager Chris Davies is hopeful that Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Osman will make a quick recovery after being forced off with a concussion during his side's 2-1 victory over Preston North End on Wednesday night.
Osman, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, was in scintillating form before the injury. He provided an assist for Jay Stansfield in the 11th minute and then scored himself just five minutes later to give Birmingham a 2-0 lead. However, his evening was cut short in the 38th minute when he went up for a header, took a knock, and had to be replaced by Demarai Gray.
Speaking after the match, Davies explained the nature of the injury and praised the winger's bravery. "I think he went up for a header, and he got knocked, and if anything, that's credit to him. Most wingers will duck out of it," the Blues boss said. "He's gone up to try and win a header, and he's taken a knock and unfortunately could not carry on. I don't know exactly what that means, but we took him off, and hopefully, he is back soon."
The 21-year-old has been in fine form since joining Birmingham in January, contributing two goals and two assists in 16 Championship appearances. He is expected to return to parent club Brighton at the end of the season when his loan spell concludes.
Birmingham City are preparing to face Bristol City on Saturday, and Davies will be hoping to have his influential winger available. However, with concussion protocols to follow, the club is unlikely to take any risks with the Ghanaian's health, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.
For now, Osman's immediate focus is recovery, while Birmingham fans will be eagerly awaiting news of his return.
