Asante Kotoko have paid tribute to the 127 fans who lost their lives on May 9, 2001, after a game against Heart of Oak ended in Africa's biggest stadium disaster.
The disaster, which remains the worst in the history of the country, reminds Ghanaians of tolerance at match venues, a message championed by the Reds.
Asante Kotoko posted on social media: "As we mark 25 years since that painful day, Asante Kotoko SC solemnly remembers the 127 football fans who lost their lives in the tragic May 9th disaster. We join the entire football fraternity in honouring the memories of the departed fans whose love and passion for the game will never be forgotten. We therefore re-echo our call for zero tolerance to stadium violence."
The Porcupine Warriors have lined up a series of activities to mark the day, and will be expected to observe a minute of silence for the 127 fans before their match against Eleven Wonders on Sunday.
This season, the Kumasi-based giants have struggled with form and are currently tenth on the Ghana Premier League table.
