FC Nordjaelland coach Jens Fønsskov Olsen has praised teenage sensation Prince Amoako Junior after earning his maiden Ghana invitation ahead of this month’s international window.
The 19-year-old winger was named in the Black Stars squad by Portuguese trainer Carlos Queiroz for Ghana’s high-profile international friendly against Mexico on May 22, 2026.
Amoako Junior has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with FC Nordsjælland, producing a string of eye-catching performances in the Danish Superliga to attract attention from several European clubs, including SC Freiburg.
Reacting to the youngster’s first senior national team call-up, Olsen expressed delight and pride over the recognition handed to the Right to Dream Academy graduate.
“I think I’m super proud that he’s been selected. He’s worked hard and had some really good performances in the Super League. We’re also really happy that he can play for the national team at such an early age,” Olsen told Danish outlet BOLD.
Despite his excitement, the FC Nordsjælland boss admitted there remains uncertainty surrounding the player’s availability for the upcoming assignment because the match falls outside the official FIFA international window.
“Then we have to see how the other thing can be resolved. Of course, that’s outside the window, and we have to see if we have a fight or not. Of course, we have seen and noted it, but right now we are most pleased with what has happened,” he added.
The highly-rated Ghanaian youngster has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for FC Nordsjælland this season.
Should an agreement be reached between the Danish side and the Ghana Football Association, Amoako Junior could make his senior debut for the Black Stars later this month.
