Medeama will officially lift the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League trophy in Tarkwa after the Ghana Football Association confirmed a special coronation match against Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday, May 27.
The decision means the champions will not receive the trophy after this weekend’s final league game against Hearts of Oak in Accra, despite earlier expectations that the title presentation could take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Sources had indicated that Medeama explored the possibility of moving the Hearts fixture to Tarkwa, with all gate proceeds and match revenue still belonging to Hearts as the designated home side. However, the GFA opted instead for a separate celebratory fixture to allow the champions celebrate in front of their home supporters at the TnA Stadium.
Medeama sealed their second Ghana Premier League title in three seasons with a game to spare, completing another strong campaign under head coach Ibrahim Tanko.
The Mauve and Yellow will first travel to Accra for their final league fixture against Hearts of Oak on Sunday before returning to Tarkwa for the coronation encounter against regional rivals Basake Holy Stars.
Following the match, Medeama players and officials will receive medals before lifting the Ghana Premier League trophy in what is expected to be a packed celebration at the TnA Stadium.
Supporters from Tarkwa and beyond are expected to fill the stadium for the occasion as Medeama celebrate another landmark moment in the club’s growing history.
