Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has admitted that the playing body was left frustrated after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Ghana, for the first time in over two decades, failed to secure qualification to the continent's most prestigious tournament held in Morocco.
After six games played during the qualifiers, the Black Stars recorded three defeats and three draws, finishing at the bottom of Group F with three points.
Speaking to FIFA in an interview, the Manchester City forward, who has become a key figure for the team, admitted that the team was disappointed with their failure to qualify for the tournament in North Africa.
"We were so frustrated that we didn't qualify. It was very, very tough. But I feel like we've rectified that in terms of qualifying for the World Cup," the 26-year-old said.
"But, we're not just coming to the World Cup; we want to compete on all levels. I feel like everyone in the team is ready to go.
"For us, we can compete with these teams. It's just [about] winning games, having fun and showing the nation what we can do," he added.
Despite failing to qualify for the AFCON, the Black Stars bounced back in a grand style to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana will come up against Panama, England and Mexico in Group L.
