Spartak Trnava have bolstered their defence with the signing of 22-year-old Ghanaian centre-back Ivan Anokye Mensah, who has agreed a contract running until 2029.
Mensah returns to Slovak football after spells with Zilina and Banska Bystrica and spent last season with Sparta Prague’s B team, where he also earned a first-team league appearance. According to Spartak Trnava the young defender brings familiarity with the league and a readiness to step into the squad, having already faced Trnava in the past.
Speaking after signing, Mensah said he was excited to join and described the move as an obvious choice once the offer arrived: “I was thrilled by this opportunity and I’m happy to be part of this family. As soon as the offer came I didn’t hesitate, from my side it was an immediate yes.”
He added he remembers playing at Trnava’s stadium and believes adaptation will be quick because he already knows the Slovak league. Spartak present Mensah as a long-term defensive investment and expect him to compete immediately for a starting spot.
