Black Stars defender Marvin Senaya has successfully undergone surgery to repair the hamstring injury he suffered during Ghana's World Cup Round of 32 clash against Colombia.
The 25-year-old right-back was forced off in the 13th minute of the match in Kansas City after pulling up while chasing a loose ball. He attempted to continue but was ultimately unable to, with scans later confirming the extent of the damage.
Senaya started all four of Ghana's matches at the 2026 World Cup, playing every minute of the group stage before the injury cut his tournament short.
The Auxerre defender was one of Ghana's standout performers, helping the Black Stars keep clean sheets against Panama and England.
In a post on social media, Senaya confirmed the surgery was successful and expressed his determination to return stronger.
Senaya made 20 appearances for Auxerre in the 2025/26 season, scoring one goal. His long-term absence is a blow for the French club, who will be without the defender for the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
