Ghana international Gideon Mensah has travelled to Germany to complete his transfer to Bundesliga side FC Köln in the ongoing summer window.
Koln are acquiring the services of the enterprising Black Stars left-back following a superlative display at the 2026 World Cup campaign, where Ghana bowed out at round 32.
Mensah, 27, is currently a free agent after leaving French side AJ Auxerre following the expiration of his contract.
GHANAsoccernet.com has learnt the former West African Football Academy (WAFA) marksman has departed to Germany, where he will undergo the final stages of the transfer process, including a medical examination and the signing of his contract.
Köln have identified the Ghanaian left-back as a key reinforcement as the club seeks to make a meaningful impact in the upcoming football campaign.
Mensah has built an impressive reputation in European football over the past few seasons, earning praise for his defensive solidity, attacking support from the flanks, and consistency at both club and international level.
His performances have also cemented his place as Ghana’s first-choice left-back, making him one of the Black Stars’ most reliable performers.
His experience in European competitions and international football is expected to add quality and leadership to the club’s defensive unit.
