The Black Queens of Ghana are stepping up training for their friendly match against Nigeria as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.
The team is already in Morocco, where the WAFCON 2026 will be hosted from July 25 to August 16.
Early this week on Tuesday, Ghana head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegeren had the opportunity to assess the strength of his team when they played a friendly match against Ivory Coast.
At the end of a fruitful exercise at the Stade Père Jégo in Casablanca, the Black Queens secured a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a solitary strike from attacker Sharon Sampson.
After that friendly, the Queens have continued to train at their base, with the technical team keen on improving the side before the start of the WAFCON.
Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegeren will have another chance to assess his team on Saturday, July 18, when the Black Queens face the Super Falcons of Nigeria in another friendly match.
That encounter is scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT at Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca.
