Black Queens used Tanzania game to evaluate squad depth ahead of WAFCON - Kim Lars Bjorkegren

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren says Ghana's goalless friendly draw against Tanzania provided a valuable opportunity to assess more players as preparations continue for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Black Queens were the better side for much of Monday's encounter in Casablanca but could not find a breakthrough despite creating several promising opportunities against a disciplined Tanzanian defence.

With the tournament approaching, Bjorkegren used the match to rotate his squad extensively, giving a large number of players the chance to impress.

"It was a good game for us. We had the opportunity to rotate the squad a lot as well. I think we played 18 or 19 players, so that was a good thing for us."

The Swedish coach introduced several changes after the break to maintain the team's intensity while evaluating different player combinations and tactical options.

Although Ghana had to settle for a draw, the exercise allowed the technical team to gather valuable information about the squad ahead of the competition.

The Black Queens controlled possession for long spells and continued to search for a winning goal until the final whistle, but Tanzania defended resolutely to preserve the stalemate.
