Asante Kotoko have expressed interest in signing Karela United centre-back Faisal Gariba as the Porcupine Warriors continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The 23-year-old defender, born on 25 October 2002, has caught the attention of the Kumasi-based giants following a series of impressive performances for Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
Gariba has been a key figure in Karela's defensive setup, showcasing his ability to read the game, dominate in aerial duels, and distribute the ball effectively from the back. His consistency at the heart of defence has made him one of the most reliable centre-backs in the domestic top flight.
The defender joined Karela United on 24 August 2024 and is currently under contract until 30 June 2027, with a market value of â¬100,000. Standing at 1.82 metres, he possesses the physical attributes required to compete at the highest level.
Asante Kotoko are in the market for defensive reinforcements as they prepare for the new season under recently appointed head coach Eric Tinkler. The South African tactician is looking to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours, and Gariba is believed to be high on his list of targets.
However, the Porcupine Warriors are expected to face competition for the defender's signature. Karela United are likely to resist losing one of their most important players, and other clubs could also join the race.
GHANAsoccernet.com understands that while interest has been expressed, no formal bid has been submitted yet. Negotiations are expected to progress in the coming days as both clubs assess the viability of a deal.
