Former Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper and national team goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingson is in advanced talks to return to Hearts of Oak as the club’s new goalkeepers’ coach.
According to sports journalist Shaban Mohammed, negotiations between the former Ghana international and the Phobians are nearing a final agreement.
The deal is expected to be concluded soon, bringing one of Ghana’s most respected goalkeepers back to the domestic game as Hearts continue to reshape their technical team.
Kingson, popularly known as “Olele”, is expected to join the backroom staff of incoming Serbian head coach Nebojsa Kapor, who is currently reviewing his contract before his official unveiling.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for Hearts of Oak following a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The move would mark Kingson’s return to the Phobians after he previously served as the club’s goalkeepers’ coach on an interim basis in 2021 before being recalled to the Black Stars by the Ghana Football Association.
With current Black Stars first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare among those expected to benefit from his vast experience, Kingson’s return would represent another significant addition to Hearts’ rebuilding project.
