Ghana defender Derrick Mensah Antwi starts new Spanish chapter with Recre Granada

Ghana defender Derrick Mensah Antwi has begun a new chapter in Spain by joining Recre Granada from Trival Valderas on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old centre-back has signed a contract with Recre Granada until 30 June 2027. The move was completed on 12 August 2026, bringing Antwi to the club after his spell with Trival Valderas.

Antwi, who stands 1.86m tall, joined Trival Valderas from Ghanaian side WAFA SC earlier in 2026, also on a free transfer. His switch to Recre Granada is the latest step in a career that has taken him from Ghana to Spanish football.

The defender has recorded 36 appearances and one goal in the Premier League, while also making six appearances and scoring once in the Promocion a 2a Federacion. Those figures represent his recorded senior competitive experience before his move to Recre Granada.

Antwi’s arrival gives Recre Granada a Ghanaian centre-back with experience in both Ghanaian and Spanish football. He joins a club that lists its senior side as Recreativo Granada, while the transfer has been registered under the name Recre Granada.

The move also maintains Antwi’s progression through the Spanish game after his switch from WAFA SC to Trival Valderas in January. He spent the intervening period with Trival Valderas before completing his next move at the start of the 2026-27 season.

Born on 1 June 2004, Antwi represents Ghana and will continue his career in Spain with Recre Granada. His arrival has been completed without a transfer fee, and his agreement with the club runs through the end of June 2027.
