Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi.
The 28-year-old central midfielder left Real Oviedo on 1 July 2026, having joined the Spanish club from SD Amorebieta in July 2024. He is now being associated with a move to Turkey, although there is no indication that an agreement has been reached.
Sibo featured in all four of Ghana’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, starting 75% of those games and playing 69% of the available minutes. He did not score or provide an assist during the tournament.
The right-footed midfielder made 73 appearances in LaLiga2 during his career, scoring twice and recording one assist. He also played 26 times in LaLiga, while his previous English experience included 20 Premier League appearances for Watford, in which he scored three goals and supplied two assists.
Sibo began his senior career with Ghanaian side Cheetah FC before moving to Banants in Armenia in 2017. He later spent time with Watford, UD Ibiza and Betis Deportivo before establishing himself in Spain’s professional divisions.
Genclerbirligi’s interest comes with Sibo’s status unresolved following his departure from Oviedo. The reported link remains a rumour, with the midfielder currently unattached.
