Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng has expressed gratitude to well-wishers after sustaining a serious injury in the season opener against UD Las Palmas in the Segunda Division league in Spain.
The former Ghana U23 striker has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to the anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered.
Following the setback, fans of Albacete Balompie sent messages of support for the attacker.
"Another obstacle in my path. Another page to write in my book. I'll come back with my head held high and with my usual joy. Thank you so much to everyone who took a moment of their time to call me or send me a message of encouragement. It's greatly appreciated," posted the Ghanaian on social media.
Obeng joined Albacete in the second half of last season and instantly became a key figure for the club, scoring three goals.
"Samu Obeng Unfortunately, the worst fears have been confirmed. The entire Albacete Balompie will stand by Samu at every step of his recovery," posted the club on social media confirming his injury.
"Albacete Balompie wishes to send all its support, strength, and affection to Obeng. We will be with you every step of the way in every recovery session you undertake with us, and every day you recover is one day closer to seeing you back in the Albacete jersey, Samu," added the club.
This leaves Albacete with the task of finding a new forward with two weeks left in the transfer window.
