Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab have completed the signing of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey, with the club officially announcing his arrival on Friday.
Al Shabab confirmed the transfer in an announcement video posted on X but did not disclose the length of Partey’s contract. However, GHANASoccernet understands that the 33-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Saudi club.
The move takes Partey to the Middle East for the first time in his career and brings an end to his 13-year spell in European football.

Partey moved to Spain in 2013 when he joined Atletico Madrid from Ghanaian side Tema Youth. After initially featuring for Atletico, he spent loan spells at Mallorca and Almeria before returning to establish himself as an important member of Diego Simeone’s side.
His performances in Spain earned him a high-profile move to Arsenal in 2020, with the Gunners paying a reported £45 million to secure his services.
Partey spent five seasons in the Premier League, making more than 100 appearances for Arsenal and becoming a key figure in midfield during his time in North London.
After leaving Arsenal, he returned to Spain, joining Villarreal, where he spent the latter part of his European career.
The Ghana international now begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia with Al Shabab, where his experience is expected to strengthen the club’s midfield.
Partey has also been a key figure for the Black Stars since making his senior international debut in 2016 and has represented Ghana at major international tournaments, including the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, helping the team reach the knockout stage.
