Kwasi Sibo returns to Accra after completing $10m Al-Swehly move

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has returned to Accra after completing his move to Libyan champions Al-Swehly, with the overall package understood to be worth around $10 million.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Al-Swehly after choosing them over interest from several clubs in Europe and North Africa.

While the headline value of the deal is around $10 million, deductions could bring the final value to approximately $7.5 million.

Sibo will also receive an apartment in Libya as part of his contract.

The midfielder completed his medical and signed the necessary paperwork in Cairo, where Al-Swehly have been based for their pre-season preparations.

Sibo had initially considered several alternatives, including Turkish side Gençlerbirli?i, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Troyes, Austin FC and PAOK, but ultimately opted for the lucrative offer from Libya.

The move is understood to form part of a broader Libyan government-backed project aimed at attracting top footballers to the country as it seeks to raise the profile of its football and strengthen its ambitions of hosting the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sibo now begins the next chapter of his career on the African continent after leaving Spanish side Real Oviedo.
