Upper West Region forward Abdulai Bashit and Ashanti Region’s Abdul Rahaman Bauh have emerged as the first MVP winners of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship.
Bashit produced the standout performance of the opening day, scoring all three goals as Upper West Region defeated defending champions Eastern Region 3-2 in their Group A opener.
His hat-trick secured all three points for Upper West and earned him the MVP award after an impressive display of finishing and composure.
Bauh also impressed in Ashanti Region’s opening fixture against Volta Region. The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes before Ashanti prevailed 5-4 on penalties, with Bauh earning the MVP accolade for his contribution.
The performances of both youngsters have provided an early glimpse of the talent on display at the 11-day championship.
The MTN Elite U-19 Championship, sponsored by MTN Ghana, forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s “Power to the Youth” initiative, which seeks to provide a pathway for young players to progress from grassroots football to the professional game and national teams.
