Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey has suffered an injury setback and was left out of Ludogorets’ squad for their 1-1 home draw against Slavia Sofia last Saturday.
The 28-year-old picked up the injury on the eve of the Bulgarian top-flight fixture, forcing head coach Thomas Reis to leave him out of his plans.
The extent of Tekpetey’s injury is not yet known, with Ludogorets waiting for further assessment to determine how long he could be sidelined.
The Bulgarian champions will hope the Ghanaian recovers in time for their next league fixture away to Spartak Varna on Sunday, August 30.
Tekpetey has been one of Ludogorets’ most productive players since the start of the season, making seven appearances across all competitions and contributing three goals and three assists.
His absence against Slavia was therefore a blow for Reis, who has relied heavily on the winger’s attacking threat.
Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Caio Vidal made his return to action after almost three months out with an adductor injury.
Vidal had undergone surgery in Spain as part of his recovery and returned to the Ludogorets squad for the first time since suffering the injury.
Ludogorets will now await further updates on Tekpetey as they assess whether the Ghana international can recover in time for Sunday’s trip to Varna.
