Raphael Assibey-Mensah scores in Erfurtâ??s victory over FSV Luckenwalde

German-Ghanaian forward Raphael Assibey-Mensah scored as FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt swept past FSV Luckenwalde 5-0 in Regionalliga Nordost action.

The result underlined Erfurt’s strong start to the season and showed why they sit top of the table after another dominant display.

Erfurt opened the scoring early through Romarjo Hajrulla, who found the net in the 11th minute. Assibey-Mensah then doubled the lead shortly before the half-hour mark, giving the visitors full control and silencing the home crowd. Stanislav Fehler added a third before the break to make the contest effectively over by half-time.

The second half brought more of the same. Laurenz Dehl scored in the 62nd minute, and Mechak Quiala Tito completed the rout late on with a fifth goal in the 81st minute. Luckenwalde, meanwhile, struggled to create meaningful chances and remain near the bottom of the standings.

For Assibey-Mensah, the goal was another positive step in what has been a productive spell. His finishing helped Erfurt stay perfect in attack during a match they controlled from start to finish, and the result strengthened their position as one of the division’s early pace-setters.
