It was all joy at Avornyo near Nkoransa in the Akrofuom District at the weekend, when a primary school block initiated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, which was completed by the current District Assembly, was commissioned.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Maurice Jonas Woode, said the Avornyo project is one of the five uncompleted educational infrastructure and a clinic bequeathed to the assembly after the change of government in 2017.

He stated that since governance is a continuous process, he and his staff decided to ensure that all the six uncompleted projects were executed and commissioned, even though not a pesewa was given by the former administration to support those projects.
Mr. Woode emphasised that since it was the taxpayer’s money that was used to start those projects, he ensured that the money did not go to waste.
“I am glad to state that the Avornyo project is the last of the five uncompleted educational infrastructure to be completed, while the clinic sited at Mpirekyire will be commissioned for use any time soon,” the DCE assured.
He mentioned that the assembly had initiated plans to put up water closet toilets instead of the Kumasi Ventilated Improved Pit (KVIP) and the traditional toilets, as a way of giving a facelift to the various communities in the district.
The District Director of Education, Mr. George Adu Abrokwa, charged the Ghana Cocoa Board to put up cocoa quarters in typical cocoa growing areas in the country to house teachers posted to those areas, so that they would have the needed peace to provide quality teaching to children of cocoa farmers, stressing, “if we have cocoa roads, we can also have cocoa quarters.”
The Assembly Member for Nkoransa Electoral Area and also the Odikro of Avornyo, Nana Daniel Badu Avornyo, who chaired the function, commended the assembly for coming to the aid of the community by completing and commissioning the school block.
