The Police Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Friday shot and killed a man, who can best be described as a ‘Trojan horse’. He poses as a house help and after getting close to his employers, he would turn round to rob them.

This was disclosed to The Chronicle by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, during an interview in Accra yesterday.
According to the Chief Constable, police received a report from a 77-year old woman, Madam Christiana Frimpong that, on December 4, 2025 she was attacked by armed men in her room at Labone.
According to the victim, the armed robbers tied her legs, hands and covered her face with a plastic bag and bolted with her Toyota Hilux pickup, with registration number GW 9834-25, iPhone 16PRO Max and other personal effects.

On March 6, 2026 at about 01:30 hours, following intelligence, a team of detectives from AARU set off and pitched camp at Danso Village, situated between Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region and Adeiso in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region.
After four days of sustained intelligence gathering, they located suspect Clement Kofi Aidoo, aka Yaw, aka Paddy, aka Joseph Abequaye, who was working with Madam Christiana, as a house help.
The suspect, upon seeing the police, jumped through a window with a sharpened cutlass, in an attempt to attack them.

He was maimed with a gunshot and rushed to the Police Hospital, in Accra, where he died while receiving treatment.
However, the Toyota Hilux pickup exhibit, some documents and the complainant’s phone, together with Voter’s Identification Card and Police Identification Card, bearing the name of Number 48935 G/Constable Daniel Kusi Appiah, were retrieved from the suspect.
On the same day, the policeman, now a Sergeant in rank and stationed at Kaneshie Divisional Headquarters was invited to help with the investigation.
According to Sgt Appiah, in November 2025, in his quest to hire a house help to assist his ailing father, he came into contact with a recruitment agency located in Accra, which offered the suspect to him.
According to the police officer, the suspect commenced work at his Kaneshie residence on November 1, 2025.
On November 14, 2025 he, together with the suspect, accompanied his father to receive medical attention at the Ridge Hospital.

As the then Sgt Appiah was going round to secure folders and other documents, the suspect drove off the vehicle and dumped the ailing elderly man somewhere.
The suspect went away with his Toyota Camry saloon car with registration number GC 123-12 together with some documents, including police and Voter’s Identification Cards, cash (GHC 12,200.00) and other personal effects.

Police investigation revealed that suspect Aidoo was a native of Bontroase in the Central Region and that, his real name was Joseph Obisse, aka Paddy.
‘The Turnaround Tiger’ used the opportunity to advise persons in charge of domestic house help recruitment to go the extra mile to conduct due diligence on those they intend offering to clients.
According to him, if care is not taken, in a bid to secure the services of security and domestic help, one might be hosting a ‘Trojan Horse’.
Arrest of security man in Ho
In another development, the Police in Ho have arrested a security man working with one of the banks, for stealing GHC 82,980.00 (Eighty-two thousand, nine hundred and eighty Ghana Cedis) from nine customers of the bank, who approached him to assist them to withdraw money from their respective accounts.
The 20-year old security man, Edwin Doko, a resident of Agbasiape, a suburb of Ho, reportedly embarked on his nefarious activities between January 14, 2026 and February 2, 2026 and within 19 (nineteen days) accumulated the colossal booty.
A highly placed senior police source in Ho, who pleaded anonymity, told The Chronicle that the cover of the security man was blown when he visited the criminal act on an official of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The said GRA official, Mr John Senyo Agbo, is stationed at Batume Junction, also in Ho.
According to the source, on January 23, 2026 at about 2pm, Mr Agbo received a bank alert indicating that GHC3,700.00 (Three Thousand, Seven Hundred Ghana Cedis) in his account had been withdrawn and transferred to a certain Telecel mobile money account.
The next day, the officer visited his bank in person, to report the incident to the branch manager for action.
However, he was allegedly informed that the bank was not responsible for the unauthorised withdrawal.
In that state of helplessness, he reported the case to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) leading to the arrest of the security man.
In the cause of interrogation, the suspect admitted to committing the crime, went further to state that eight other customers of the bank also suffered from his diabolical dealings.
As to his modus operandi, the suspect reportedly told the police that some of the customers are unable to fill their deposit forms and that he usually assists such customers.
However after completing the form, he would take a shot of it for his nefarious activities.
When The Chronicle contacted the Branch Manager of the said bank, he admitted that the police are investigating the case.
He, however, stated that the security man is not their employee and promised to get back to the paper, to state if he belongs to a private security entity, but failed.
