A past student of New Edubiase Senior High School in the Adansi South District of Ashanti region, Mrs. Mavis Osei Akoto Opoku, has donated a mechanised water System to her Alma Mater and refurbished the school’s girls’ bathroom as well.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, which also coincided with the inauguration of the school’s Regimental Band, Mrs. Mavis Osei Akoto Poku, who is the CEO of Fox FM, a Kumasi based radio station said when she was informed of the water problem in the school, she quickly organised herself to get the school out of the crisis.

Asked what motivated her to do so, she said it is the New Edubiase SHS that has made her what she is today.
“I owe a lot to the school. It prepared me to be a good mother, wife and a CEO. I have experienced several years staying abroad and I need to give back to the school that prepared me for life,” she stated.
She advised the students, especially the females not to joke with their studies so that they will be relevant in the society and be able to come back to help their school one day.
Mrs. Osei Akoto Poku entreated the students to be obedient and obey the rules and regulations of the school so that they would not attract sanctions from the authorities.
The headmaster of the school, Mr. Christopher Appiah-Mensah, on behalf of the Board of Governors of the school, the PTA and the Edubiasehene, Guahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang, thanked Mrs. Osei Akoto Poku for the donation.
He noted that the gesture by the old student is not only an act of generosity, but also a demonstration of commitment to the growth and well being of the school.

Inaugurating the Regimental Band, the headmaster said the Band enhances the image of the school and prepares the students for future opportunities. He thanked the School’s SRC for financing the purchase of the equipment.
Mr. Appia-Mensah called on GETFUND Secretariat to complete a one-storey girls’ dormitory and a 3-Unit classroom block it has initiated in the school.
He also thanked AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine for constructing an ultra-modern Assembly Hall for the school.
Nana Kyei Barfour Boadu, Edubiase Gyaasoahene, who represented the Edubiasehene called on the public, individuals and corporate bodies to come and support the construction of a fence wall for the school.
