Kumasi Senior Technical School (KSTS) has launched its 35th anniversary celebration and a fundraising campaign aimed at expanding the school’s infrastructural development and completing stalled projects on campus.
The anniversary celebration and fundraising drive are expected to mobilise resources to address the school’s pressing infrastructure needs and position KSTS to deliver even better technical and vocational education in the years ahead.
The launching ceremony brought together students, staff, alumni, parents and other stakeholders.

Mr. Yaw Twimasi, the headmaster of the school, said the school remains committed to providing technical training and quality education.
He said the school started in 1991 with 250 students and 12 tutors and now boasts of an enrolment of 4,754 students comprised of 1,885 girls and 2,868 boys with a staff strength of 262 teaching staff and 63 non-teaching staff.
He noted that the school has witnessed significant achievements in promoting academic and technical excellence with the support of teachers and parents.
Mr. Twimasi appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school to complete the Assembly Hall, the Dining Hall, and the Boys’ Dormitory, which he said are inadequate to serve the growing student population.
He also cited challenges with washroom and sanitation facilities, as well as inadequate furniture for students.
He appealed to the mayor of Kumasi to support the school with modern and hygienic sanitation facilities.
Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, the mayor of Kumasi and the Special Guest of Honour,
expressed the view that the growing needs of education require collective effort from government, stakeholders and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
He entreated the students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them at all times.
The mayor promised the assembly’s commitment to provide a 20-seater toilet facility for the Boys’ Dormitory and additional sanitation facilities, noting that procurement processes are currently underway.
He also pledged to provide chairs for the teaching staff to enable them to facilitate quality teaching and learning and to complement the aspirations of students in the school.
