Offinso-Anomangye road to be completed and handed over by October 2027 -Resident Engineer

Engineer Dennis Kusi Boateng, the Resident Engineer for Rango Construction Company Ltd, has disclosed that the Offinso-Anomangye road project will be completed and officially handed over to the Government of Ghana by October 31, 2027.

Rango Construction, a leading civil engineering company, is undertaking the widening of the Offinso-Anomangye road in the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Kusi Boateng made the disclosure when he addressed the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, during an inspection of the project site in Kumasi.

He mentioned delays in payment of compensation to affected persons, damage to completed works by artisans and shop owners, and impact on planned works such as U-drains, earthworks, walkways, and asphalt laying as some challenges slowing progress on the project.

According to the Resident Engineer, two structures are still obstructing the right of way, adding that some recalcitrant spare parts dealers are also slowing the pace of work.

He said the contractor has engaged the Suame Police and Municipal Assembly, but little has been done, and they have to wait until all the spare parts are moved out.

Mr. Agbodza explained that instead of the original 3-lane design, the government has approved a 4-lane configuration with an additional bypass.

According to him, the government is investing over GH¢3 billion to do the bypass and provide extra capacity, and that no one is losing out because of that.

The Minister also addressed compensation, stating that arrangements are being made to settle affected persons to enable work to proceed without any further delays.

He appealed to traders and residents to protect ongoing works.

The Roads Minister said he is encouraged by the pace of work and noted that almost all road contractors in Kumasi are currently on site, including Kofi Job Construction at Sewua and other parts of Kumasi and the region as a whole.

He assured that the government remains committed to completing all abandoned and ongoing road projects in Kumasi and across the Ashanti Region to improve mobility and boost economic activity.

Dr Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, also commended the Roads and Highways Minister for the effort to ensure that all contractors are back on site.

He assured the Minister that the Regional Security Council would liaise with national security to ensure that matters that are related to the security of the projects are resolved to pave the way for timely completion.
