Budgets in Ghana are normally presented before year end with the exception of election years when the newly elected government is allowed to present a budget in the new year. The 2013 budget is due to be presented soon and there are a number of issues in the food and agricultural budget that should be under scrutiny this year.
At about 1030 am this morning, the Speaker of Parliament, Justice D.F. Annan, will announce the commencement of parliamentary debate on the GovernmentÂ’s Budget Statement for 1997.
Have we made a choice to play games with our safety and security in Ghana? Just the past three days alone, up to 50 people have lost their lives through road accidents of all types.
I read on this medium and saw on television, the disaster at Melcom that claimed precious lives. My heart goes to the families of the fallen and those who survived.
Hopefully, this mail will find you in good spirit. Yes, I did promise to come back after your honeymoon. However, IÂ’m not going to disturb you with too many issues right now because there are other pressing matters that canÂ’t wait for another four years.
Good friends, more developments keep cropping up for us to engage in our conversation. President Mahama has moved steadily to establish the pillars of his administration. He has just released the names of 15 new appointees of Ministerial status, and one for the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.

We have on several occasions had cause to question the integrity of the NPP’s Kennedy Agyapong (Assin Central MP) because of the dare-devil posture he has assumed to make foul—very foul—public pronouncements. But he is mindless of criticisms and still goes ahead to intensify the tirade.

Paris is known for its high standards of living and known to be a paradisiacal attraction for tourists and migrants. However, Ghanaians in search of work are duped into believing they can live the equivalent of the real Paris right here in Lebanon.
I always love to reminisce these words of wisdom and truth that Martin Luther King, 1964 peace Nobel Prize winner, once wrote in distinguishing the negative peace, being the absence of tension, and the positive peace, being the presence of justice. It is clear to me that the political atmosphere that resulted from Ghana's electoral process was nothing but tensed.
