A defected Deputy National Communications Officer for Zongo Caucus, the official wing of  National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Zongo communities Awal Mohammed has disclosed that the rank  and  file of the party have been  begging him to return to their camp.

Awal made a dramatic turn when he defected from the NDC to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) weeks ago.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he explained that the party claims he has only one vote, yet they are pursuing him to rescind his decision to leave.

He said he is not perturbed by insults rained on him on social media by supporters of NDC.

‘Even as I speak now, they are still pursuing me, NDC members want me to return to the party, I don’t know why they still want me back after claiming I have just one vote, and that my vote can make little impact,’ he hinted.

He dispelled allegations that he was bribed by a communications member of NPP Henry  Nana Boakye (Nana B)  to defect to the party, adding that he never begged the National Communications Director of NDC Solomon Nkansah for a job.

‘I was using my own energy, time and resources to campaign for NDC but I took a decision to stop that work because I realised that NDC cannot change the fortunes of the country, they have no vision for the Zongo community, they are now scared of the wind of change,’ he said.

The Deputy National Communications Officer for Zongo Caucus, the official wing of  NDC in the Zongo communities called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the Flagbearer of NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Parliamentary candidate for Asawase constituency Alhaji Alidu Seidu and the NPP to win power.
