The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD Dr Stephen Opuni has up to 5pm on Friday January 13, 2016 to resign or be sacked according to the a letter from the presidency issued by Executive Secretary to the President Nana Asante Bediatuo.
He has been directed to handover office property by the stipulated time.
According to the letter, “Pursuant to section 14 clauses 1 of the presidential transition act 2012 and act 845 and paragraph 6 of schedule “you cease to hold office as CEO of the Ghana Cocoa Board upon assumption of office of his Excellency the president of the Republic.”
Until his appointment in 2013, Dr Opuni was the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). He has been asked to handover to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
