Karela United head coach Nurudeen Amadu has expressed satisfaction after his side earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Swedru All Blacks, describing the point as a welcome reward in a difficult Ghana Premier League encounter.
The match, played at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday, saw Karela frustrate the hosts with a disciplined display, particularly after falling behind.
Amadu acknowledged the challenge of the fixture and praised his players for sticking to their tactical plan in a demanding away environment.
“It was a very difficult game. We knew it was going to be difficult. They are a very good side, and when you come here you have to be tactically aware and encourage your players to remain disciplined and follow the instructions that were issued,” he said.
“So I think that became important here. This is good for us and we are delighted, because we are going away again. If you lose two away matches, it means you go down towards the bottom. So this one point is a welcome result for us.”
Swedru All Blacks, seeking a response after last weekend’s setback against Bechem United, started brightly and took the lead through Ayikabia Solomon Anyork Nereba, who finished confidently to ignite the home support.
Karela, however, showed resilience and composure after the break. Their persistence paid off in the 70th minute when Malik Abubakar struck to level the contest, registering his fourth league goal of the season.
