Kwame Asare Obeng (2nd L) leading the bonfire at the carnival
Gomoa was the place to be this Easter as thousands of revellers, tourists, and culture enthusiasts joined locals for the maiden Gomoa Easter Carnival — a four-day spectacle that blended tradition, music, and economic activity into an unforgettable experience.
Roads were busier, hotels were fully booked days in advance, and local businesses thrived as visitors poured in from across Ghana and beyond.
The opening scenes were nothing short of breathtaking. Traditional processions, cultural performances, and community celebrations painted a vivid picture of Gomoa’s heritage, while glowing bonfires across communities set a symbolic tone of unity and celebration.
At the heart of the festival was a grand durbar that brought together more than 15 Paramount chiefs in a powerful display of tradition and authority.
As day turned to night, the carnival shifted into high gear with electrifying musical performances.
Music artistes Sarkodie commanded the stage with hit after hit, while Shatta Wale delivered a high-energy performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Fans also enjoyed standout performances from Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, Tinny, Sista Afia, Kuami Eugene, and Obaapa Christy, each bringing their unique style to the stage.
The vision behind the event comes from the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, whose goal is to turn Gomoa into a thriving hub for tourism, investment, and job creation.
His call for industrial growth, youth involvement, and the development of a freezone enclave added depth to the festival, making it more than just a celebration.
With its overwhelming turnout, cultural richness, and economic impact, the Gomoa Easter Carnival has announced itself as a major addition to Ghana’s tourism calendar and a powerful symbol of what culture can achieve when combined with vision.
