Black Stars defender Jonas Adjetey has joined German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg in the winter transfer window.
The 22-year-old signed a four-and-a-half year deal to join the Germans from Swiss giants FC Basel.
Adjetey arrives after a stellar career in Switzerland, where he won the League and Cup double last season. He made 73 competitive appearances for Basel, including six in Europe.
"It means a lot to me to be in the Bundesliga now and to take this step with VfL Wolfsburg. I'm looking forward to getting started right away and will invest everything every day so that we can achieve the results we need together," said the towering centre-back.
Wolfsburg Sporting Director Pirmin Schwegler believes the proven defender is a right fit for the club.
“Jonas is a very strong physical player, fast and good in tackles. He brings exactly the qualities we need for our defense,” Schwegler said. “At FC Basel, he proved himself both in the league and internationally over the past three and a half years. We have high hopes for Jonas and are convinced that he will strengthen our team immediately.”
The lanky defender helped Ghana qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making seven appearances for the Black Stars.
